HONEY OF NOOSA - Who we are
Welcome to our colorful world of manuka honey! We’re honored to have you stop by our sweet little place full of Noosa’s yummiest honey treasures.
Our beekeeping venture started three generations ago by our grandparents, and during the grim and gloomy inception of the 2020 covid pandemic, Sharleen and I decided we wanted to “make life’s moments a little sweeter” by bringing happiness, health and wellbeing to Australians all whilst enjoying an easy and delicious nutrition-packed superfood in their day to day.
Our mission to healthier Australians
When we started, we knew so very little about bees or beekeeping and even less about how much work it would take to get honey from the hive into a jar. But with each season of honey that was harvested and shared with our community, we’ve discovered a real passion for improving people’s relationships to unhealthy sweets and began educating the multitude of health benefits of honey. Overtime, we have taught Australian’s how to satisfy their sweet-tooths through our easy and healthy honey recipes that we have curated on our own, and alongside Noosa’s restaurant’s who use our honey in their dishes - teaching that healthy sweet eating can still be a sustainable, and enjoyable lifestyle.
Our mission to promoting the importance of saving the bees
It’s a known fact that bee populations are heavily in decline in the last century. Sadly, without them 1/3rd of our crop’s agriculture and the food on our plates wouldn’t exist without them. That’s why our underlying premise for HONEY OF NOOSA will always be to “save the bees”. We encourage all Australians to implement easy and lifestyle changes where they can:
- Avoid using pesticides and buy raw and organic produce
- Plant bee-friendly plants in our gardens
- Support beekeepers who look are the bees by buying locally sourced honey
Supporting the local community beekeepers
Beekeeping is an intensive artform that requires a lot of labour and patience throughout the seasons, so in 2021 we’ve expanded our business into bringing economic opportunity to our professional local beekeepers within the Noosa shire; by supporting community trade with our neighbours within the Noosa Shire, we are responsibly allowing bees to access nectar and pollen within the area, without them having to travel kilometres away from the hive just to find some food to bring back to their family hive.
Beyond a honey company
It’s time to meet who’s writing this blog! We’re the brother sister “honey duo” as we colloquially call ourselves - Sharleen and Jeremy. As well as our dad as head beekeeper too! Ever since we rolled up our sleeves and started HONEY OF NOOSA, we’ve learned so much about the impact the bees have on human life and are advocates of the health benefits that manuka honey offers.
The invitation is open to join us as we share our manuka honey with the rest of Australia. There will be some laughter, some learning, some crazy stressed days, and some realness to what follows. We hope you enjoy!
